Art is an important part of our light rail system. Studies show that it can help riders feel more calm and comfortable when waiting for a train to arrive. Art is being used at stations, park-and-rides and power facilities to link back to the culture of our unique neighborhoods. On the South Central light rail extension, there are 18 artists at work to create a special impact along the corridor between downtown Phoenix and Baseline Road. Out of those 18 artists, 13 are from the state of Arizona including artist Barbara Grygutis. A Tucson native, Grygutis is designing artwork for the Salt River Bridge Enhancements Project.
Visitors to the South Central Extension Community Office can view a special display of Grygutis’ work until June.
